Usman Điba, agent Partizan striker Frenk Kanute, revealed to French media the current status of his client.
Senegalese footballer arrived in Humo as a major reinforcement before the start of last season, however, he did not adapt very well in the black and white jersey. Kanute played 22 games for Partizan, scored one goal, and had one assist. However, he missed some games due to injury, and after Igor Duljaj’s departure, he did not get a chance on the field.
Since the summer, it has been rumored that Kanute should leave Partizan. He participated in the first part of the preparations, but not in the second, and now his agent shared details of the situation in which Kanute finds himself.
„Frenk participated in the first part of the summer preparations, but could not be present in the second part. It is not true that he was left out of the team. The truth is that he had to resolve family problems, he informed the sports director and that is why he decided to join his family. The real problem is the overdue salaries. Since his arrival in Belgrade, the club has only paid him three months’ rent for an apartment. It has been eight months since his last rent was paid, and the club also owes him three months’ overdue salaries. This is a big problem, especially since Frenk is one of their two highest-paid players,“ said Usman Điba.
He then added that he negotiated the termination of the contract, but that Partizan approached it in a very unserious manner.
„When I started negotiations for the termination of the contract, Partizan offered to pay four months for the termination. This is unserious for a player who has a two-year contract. When I received the offer, I told myself that they were kidding us, it will not be like that. We hired a lawyer to defend our interests,“ he said.
He emphasized that the club must pay the player at least eight salaries if they want to terminate the contract.
„We do not want Frenk to be without playing for months, because it is not good for his career, especially for a 25-year-old player, full of talent. The club did not respect us, now they know our conditions. If they want the process of contract termination to continue, they know what to do,“ Điba concluded.
