Dejan Dragijević (50), accused of killing a two-year-old girl with his colleague from the public utility company „Vodovod“ in Bor on March 26, is requesting to be brought before the prosecutor again.
Danka Ilić (2) from Bor disappeared exactly three months ago in Banjsko Polje. Her body has not been found during this time, and the case is shrouded in mystery, which may be resolved by the hearings of new witnesses, as well as a possible new interrogation of one of the suspects in the girl’s murder, according to Kurir.
It is recalled that Danka went missing on March 26, and on April 4, the police arrested Srđan Janković (50) and Dejan Dragijević (50), workers at Bor’s „Vodovod“, on suspicion of hitting the child who had just come out onto the street with a car, then suffocating and disposing of the body. In the investigation led by the Zaječar District Public Prosecutor’s Office, 17 witnesses have been questioned so far, and the hearing of another three people has been scheduled for July 5.
„There will be three more witnesses questioned. The witnesses who were previously questioned had no information about the crime itself, and the three new witnesses could provide significant information for the investigation,“ a source familiar with the case told Kurir.
He added that it would be crucial for the investigation that one of the suspects, Dejan Dragijević, allegedly announced that he wanted the prosecutor to question him again.
„Dragijević admitted during questioning at the prosecutor’s office after the arrest that his colleague Janković hit Danka with the official car ‘Fiat Panda’, in which he was a passenger, and that he personally put her in the vehicle and suffocated her with his hands. He also admitted that they disposed of the body at the landfill on Starobanjski Put, but that he later moved it with his brother and father two days later,“ the source recalled.
„Dragijević has allegedly now requested through his lawyer to be questioned again. Only he knows what he will say now, but his new statement could either completely clarify the case or further complicate it. If he finally admits where the girl’s body is, the situation would be clear, but now he can also ‘turn the tables’ and decide to change his statement, following in the footsteps of his colleague Janković,“ the source concluded.
